Fox in our Backyard!!

You can find the video we’ve taken here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMqwtyffoA8

One Sunday morning, we were sleeping and my dad came in to tell us we could go outside and play in the snow, because it snowed heavily last night. He looked out of the window and spotted a fox! I quickly ran to the window and saw the fox walking around and searching for something. The fox had a light brown body and below its chin and the neck was bright white. It had a huge tail and its feet were black.

After a while, the fox was standing over something dark and it looked like an animal. It was a rabbit! What I think happened is that the rabbit was hibernating in its burrow until the fox digged into the snow and found it. The fox teared pieces of meat from the body and swallowed it with ease. There were drops of blood all over the pure white snow. The fox ate for a long time and finally it stopped. It licked its lip with its tongue and looked happy. Then it buried the blood using its jaw with the snow. It looked around and rolled playfully in the snow. I think it was full.

After a while, it pulled the rabbit closely to the fence and looked around again. I think the fox was smart, because it knew the rabbit was too heavy for it so the fox ripped the rabbit into half.

It took the first half using its mouth and ran off into the trees. We thought the fox would not come back but it did. It took the other half of the rabbit and ran off towards our front yard. I tried finding it again using its footprints but the footprints ended close to our neighbour’s house.

We waited by the window for a few minutes and I saw a fox across the street near another house. It ran away and I think it might be another fox because it was slightly bigger than the first one and it didn’t have the rabbit in its mouth. I predict there might be a whole family of foxes living here.
