My First Job

I got my first job! Guess what it is? I'm the paper boy! That's right; I deliver the newspaper for my street and some houses on the other street. The newspaper I deliver is called The Liberal. I do it every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

First I have to put the flyers into the newspaper, and then I wrap it with plastic bags or an elastic band.

Then I delivery the papers to the houses and leave it on their driveways. It is very hard to package the flyers on Thursday, because there are tons of flyers on Thursday and I always mess them up. I manage to finish but it takes me so much more time than normal. I deliver my newspapers in a cart and sometimes I use a bag to carry papers when there are too many flyers.

The money I get from the job is mine so when I save up enough money I will buy new game stations and games. I think this job is very fun but sometimes it is hard because of the crazy weather in the winter and the cart gets stuck.

Andre Rieu Performance

On November 15, My dad, mom, and I went to Roger's Centre in Toronto to see a violin player named Andre Rieu perform live with his orchestra, ballet dancers, and ice skaters. There were more than twenty-five thousand people watching the performance and it was a magnificent sight. The orchestra looked tiny because I was far away from it. I watched the performance on a large screen beside the real thing, to see it clearer.

It was a great performance. The whole stage was transformed into a real Viennese castle with André Rieu & his Johann Strauß Orchestra & Choir, many soloists, the Platin Tenors, The Viennese State Opera Ballet, 80 Viennese Debutantes, the golden coach with Empress Sissi & Emperor Franz Joseph, The Viennese Ice Dancers, the most famous figure-skating champions, and Viennese "Fiaker" with horses and lackeys.
First there were happy songs I saw horses and carriages with people in them. The horses were pure white with hats on them and nice decorations.

Next there were songs about love and the ballet dancers and skaters were dancing. The ballet dancers and the skaters were dancing beautifully and every move matched the music.

Then there were waltzes like The Blue Danube Waltz and I thought it must be harder to waltz on ice. The ice skaters still did very well and the music was all wonderful.

After that, was opera singing. There were four female singers and three male singers.

They sang really loud and my favourite singer was the Hungarian singer. There was a funny part where Andre Rieu tells us that the Hungarian singer was so happy that Andre let in a Hungarian song for him that he makes a type of Hungarian food called Goudas. (I have no idea how to spell this Goudas) Then the Hungarian singer interrupts when Andre is conducting a song and brings Goudas. It was so funny! Andre tells him that the orchestra has had too much Goudas and that they had ate it for the past weeks. The Hungarian singer gets upset and the whole audience goes "Awwwww".

They also performed a song from The Titanic, My Heart Will Go On, and two pairs of skaters performed.

In the end, Scottish bagpipes players came marching through the doors and onto the stage. They played Oh Canada with the orchestra and the whole audience stood up to sing the national anthem of Canada.

I think the performance was wonderful, even though I first thought it would be boring and too adult-like. I hope I will get a chance to go to the Roger’s Centre again.

Fox in our Backyard!!

You can find the video we’ve taken here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMqwtyffoA8

One Sunday morning, we were sleeping and my dad came in to tell us we could go outside and play in the snow, because it snowed heavily last night. He looked out of the window and spotted a fox! I quickly ran to the window and saw the fox walking around and searching for something. The fox had a light brown body and below its chin and the neck was bright white. It had a huge tail and its feet were black.

After a while, the fox was standing over something dark and it looked like an animal. It was a rabbit! What I think happened is that the rabbit was hibernating in its burrow until the fox digged into the snow and found it. The fox teared pieces of meat from the body and swallowed it with ease. There were drops of blood all over the pure white snow. The fox ate for a long time and finally it stopped. It licked its lip with its tongue and looked happy. Then it buried the blood using its jaw with the snow. It looked around and rolled playfully in the snow. I think it was full.

After a while, it pulled the rabbit closely to the fence and looked around again. I think the fox was smart, because it knew the rabbit was too heavy for it so the fox ripped the rabbit into half.

It took the first half using its mouth and ran off into the trees. We thought the fox would not come back but it did. It took the other half of the rabbit and ran off towards our front yard. I tried finding it again using its footprints but the footprints ended close to our neighbour’s house.

We waited by the window for a few minutes and I saw a fox across the street near another house. It ran away and I think it might be another fox because it was slightly bigger than the first one and it didn’t have the rabbit in its mouth. I predict there might be a whole family of foxes living here.
